What are you looking forward to in your first year of design school?

Taking focused architecture courses. Getting to see architecture from a different perspective. Experiencing architecture on class field trips.

In what way will you commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion while at the Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design?

My beliefs on that are to not act based on biases or stereotypes. Being thorough is a big part of architecture. Understanding the circumstances, the landscape, the history, the need, and, most importantly, the people. If you are naive in even one of those areas the design will not be complete. That is why, as designers, we must make sure we fully understand the context of the project from a firsthand perspective. Thinking we know everything going in leads to false assumptions and thus an inadequate building.
